Common Issues and Their Solutions

Most modern devices give some sort of warning in the form of a "beep" when the batteries are running flat, however, some models may not. Try changing the batteries. If that doesn't fix the problem, don't keep trying other batteries. It is unlikely to be the battery. Try one of the other suggestions. Hearing device batteries are different to watch batteries.

If you are having problems using the telephone while you are on the telephone, here are a few things you should know. Most modern hearing devices have special phone setting called a T-coil setting that can be activated via a switch or push-button. When activating this function, the microphone(s) of the device are turned off. You may hear a humming sound and the signal (voice) is diverted to a very small magnetic coil device which communicates with the telephone. This technique eliminates any whistling from the hearing device.

Practice is required in placing the telephone in the "sweet spot" zone on the hearing device itself. When the phone is placed in the correct spot, you will notice that the signal is stronger. If you find that the voice on the phone still isn't quite loud enough, try turning up the volume on the phone or the hearing device itself.

Some devices may not have a T-Coil setting. If this is the case, simply place the phone receiver above the ear on the hearing device itself and this should give a satisfactory result.
